The Aerial Hoop, also known as "Circeaux" and "Lyra", is a metal apparatus (steel or aluminum) that looks like a suspended hula-hoop. This is a great core and upper body workout. Feel like a kid again and play on one today!
Hoop Level 1
In Intro to Hoop, we've lowered the hoop for easy access from the floor. Students will be guided through introductory hoop moves without being required to lift their own body weight. In addition to learning Aerial Hoop Poses and Posturing, you will begin strength and conditioning exercises to prepare your body for flight, and flexibility exercises for greater coordination and easy of movement in and out of moves on the hoop.
Hoop Level 2
Beginner Hoop trains students to take their knowledge from the intro classes into the air. Beginner hoop focuses on the fundamentals of mounting and dismounting by beginning to lift their body weight. This class breaks down beginner moves, and trains and conditions your body for aerial work. This is a "hardcore" workout so expect to work your abs and back hard.
Hoop Level 3
In Intermediate Hoop we'll take the hoop farther up into the air and YOU farther up into it! Students will begin learning how to translate familiar moves from beginner up onto the top of the hoop, as well as learning new moves that are only possible from the top bar. At this level, dynamic movement will also be a focus and we'll begin incorporating rolls and flips around the hoop into every class. All students registering for Intermediate Classes must obtain permission from their instructor and should expect to have mastered at least 85% of the content of the entire beginner program. (If you are visiting from another studio please contact email@example.com to register for a course at your level.)
Open Hoop (Lyra Students Only)
Come and practice your Hoop/Lyra skills under the guidance of a Hoop Instructor. Students will not receive instruction at open Hoop, instead this open gym time is for Aerial Hoop students to practice the skills that they have been learning in any level hoop class.
